Honourable A. Brian Peckford P.C.
Premier of Newfoundland (1979 – 1989),
the only living First Minister of the Constitutional Patriation Process
leading to the Constitution Act of 1982
Hongshan@1965
Honourable A. Brian Peckford P.C. was born August 27,1942 in Whitbourne, Newfoundland.
He graduated from Lewisporte High School in 1960.
In 1966 he graduated with a BA in Education from Memorial University of Newfoundland. He later did post graduate work in English Literature and Education Psychology.
He taught high school in Springdale, Newfoundland and in 1972 he entered Provincial Politics.
In March 1972 Brian was elected the first Progressive Conservative MHA in the history of the riding at age 29. Later that year, he became Special and Parliamentary Assistant to the then Premier, Frank Moores.
In 1974, he was appointed Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and in 1976 Minister of Mines and Energy. While Minister of Mines and Energy, he also served for some time as Minister of Rural Development and Northern Affairs.
In March 1979, Brian won the Progressive Conservative leadership convention and became the third Premier of the Province since Confederation. He was at 36 the youngest First Minister of Newfoundland since the First Prime Minister, Philip Little in 1855.
Brian became a strong advocate of Provincial Rights as manifested in his efforts to gain some control and revenues from the newly developing offshore oil and gas resources culminating in The Atlantic Accord. This groundbreaking Agreement brought revenues to the Province as if the resources were on land, well over $30 Billion to date, and a say in the management of the resource.
Brian was involved in the Constitutional Patriation Process of the early 1980’s leading to the Constitution Act of 1982. It was Newfoundland’s proposal presented at the Conference that led to the breakthrough. Brian is the only living First Minister of that Constitutional Process.
Mr. Peckford retired from politics in March 1989 and began a consulting company with his wife, Carol, assisting companies in Europe and North America.
He has written two books, the last, ‘Some Day The Sun Will Shine And Have Not Will Be No More,’ a Globe and Mail best seller in 2012.
He has received awards as an Outstanding Young Canadian and the Outstanding Contribution Award from the Newfoundland Ocean Industries Association. He was sworn to the Privy Council by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth in 1982.
Brian has conducted inquiries on behalf of the British Columbia Government and the Government of Canada. He retired in 2001 and presently lives with his wife, Carol, in Parksville, British Columbia.
Mr. Peckford became a vocal supporter of the Freedom Movement exemplified in the Truckers Convoy to Ottawa. He spoke on Parliament Hill at a Truckers Gathering, met their Board and leaders Lich and Barber. He also helped behind the scenes in getting the Ottawa City Council to meet with the Truckers representatives.
Mr. Peckford led the legal action with several other Canadians in challenging the Federal Government’s Travel Mandate going all the way to the Supreme Court of Canada. All three courts invoked the mootness argument to refrain from ruling on the merits of the case. Canadians’ right to know has been violated, and it remains in the dark as to whether the Federal Travel Mandate was constitutional. At the initial Federal Court hearing, it was established that there was no medical evidence presented to validate the mandate.
Mr. Peckford continues to this day to advocate for the Charter of Rights and Freedoms through his blog, online and selected personal appearances.

Grant Abraham
Alberta-born and BC-raised, Grant Abraham is a lawyer, author, humanitarian, small-holding organic farmer, and family man who believes that Canada has lost its moorings from the value system that built this nation.
He believes Canada is being undermined by post-nationalism and the Liberal “reset” agenda. Before these serious challenges facing Canada became impossible to ignore, Grant had a very diverse career leading in International Development across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe by combining tools from the humanitarian and social impact investment sector. Over the last twenty years, he has worked in some of the most risk-laden countries and understands how people, families and communities flourish when they are given the tools and opportunities to succeed. He holds degrees in Business, Law and Humanities.
Grant is married to Caroline, his wife of 30 years, and they have four sons.
While Grant is not a career politician, he is a reformer and entered into the race for the leadership of the Conservative Party of Canada in 2022. Having raised the necessary $300,000.00 and attained the nomination requirements from across the country, his bid to participate was blocked by the party officials. He believes that the Conservative Party is failing to engage the real issues, causing Canada to be deconstructed. By omission to challenge these threats to Canada, the Conservative Party is camouflaging the real issues and totally failing Canadians. Grant has the tenacity to see truth, justice, civility, respect and uprightness restored to our nation. He yearns to see the promises of Canada re-established for all Canadians.
Grant adamantly believes Canada will never be governed by the United Nations, the World Health Organization or the World Economic Forum. Along with a group of patriotic citizens from across the country, he launched the United Party of Canada to provide a response to this deconstructive threat and return Canada to the founding principles that will restore truth, justice and freedom to our people and the nation of Canada.
